On Saturday, October 11, 2008, the 7th Annual Shrine Bowl was held at Daniel Field in Hazard, KY. Hazard Independent's Roy G. Eversole Elementary's 5th & 6th graders played Estill County's 5th & 6th graders in the opening game. The 5th & 6th graders from Roy G. Eversole Elementary won with a score of 12 - 6. The second game pitted Evarts Black Mountain Elementary's 5th & 6th graders against Letcher County Cougars' 5th & 6th graders. Evarts overcame Letcher in the last 2 minutes of the game to win 14 to 8. This year has seen over 2500 children participating in the Shrine Bowl. Also, this year another former Shrine Patient played in our Shrine Bowl, our 4th Shriner child so far. Not to be outdone by the boys, this year another girl played in our Shrine Bowl, our second girl in bowl history. Not only did she just play, she started and played the entire game. Below are some pictures for your enjoyment: Reported by, John Chaney, R.Ph. Hazard, KY 41702 | Roy G.
